Neglect

I don't even know if anybody checks my blog anymore but whatevs.

I am not really sure why the neglect, but I just didn't feel like blogging. I think I was tired. I didn't make jewelry either. It's like I died.

I was on a 4day, 10hr/day shift for a while. That was tiring. Days were long. When I did have my lovely 3 day weekend, I'd spend a lot of time sleeping. Though, to be honest, I sleep too much on weekends regardless of my schedule. I'm a terrible sleeper. Despite that, I liked having a mini vacation each week. I did feel I got more done, both at work and at home.

I went back to a 5 day, 8hr/day schedule because of "business need". Apparently 3 days away from the lab is too long for a validation specialist. Deadlines and contact with the sister lab R&D in Cali and such and such. But just as I was getting used to getting home at 9:30 or so again, my shift has been pushed later from noon to 8:30 to 2pm-10pm. "Business need".

Getting home so late wasn't so bad when I had an extra day to spend with the fam and friends, but now it just kinda sucks.

Where's my trillion dollars so I can quit work and make jewelry for fun and profit?

Here's other news:
  • I went to a power yoga class that wasn't even all that hard. Some dude who couldn't sit crosslegged was amazed at my ability to sit half lotus. I decide to SHOW OFF and nudge myself into full lotus. BIG mistake. I heard a pop and now my right knee hurts. It's gotten better but it still hurts to sit with the bottoms of my feet together in butterfly and touch my nose to my toes. Either a lateral ligament or iliotibial band issue. I had an x-ray but didn't hear any bad news. Lesson learned, though. I HATE that I hurt myself showing off.
  • Remodeling marches on and on and on. Three bathrooms at once. Four people sharing one bathroom sucks kinda hard. But at least we have two toilets working now. They look great so far though. Huge downside: I HAVE ASTHMA. I sound like Fatty McGee. Never had it as a kid, so it's scary sometimes. I have an inhaler and therefore am getting closer and closer to becoming Super Nerd.
  • The holidays were great. I got my mom a Kitchen Aid stand mixer in Empire Red. Got it for $199 on Black Friday. In all reality, it's fun for me. Goo and I made marshmallows yesterday! If you have a mixer or someone who will stand with a mixer for 15mins, I HIGHLY recommend homemade marshmallows. It's a trip. Who the hell makes their own marshmallows??? But it's crazy easy and so luscious.
  • New Years was great fun. Spent it in Richmond at Grace's and brought Goo along. Lots of food, drink, and lesbians. Neat. (check out Goo's facebook if you're a friend)
Yeah, yeah, I know. Words are boring. Where are the pics? Come on, give me a chance to ease back into this.

Talk to you all soon.

Freakin me out

Now all this guy has to do is figure out how to harmonize with himself.

That sounds dirty.

October in a single post

Where did October go?

I was...uh...in a time warp. Yeahh...that's it. Time warp.

I started working 4 days a week, 10 hours a day. It's very productive, in my opinion. And you get used to it. Since I live so far from work, I basically get home with just enough time to eat, sleep, eat, shower. But 3 days off is nice, even if I spend all of the first day asleep. I do like to sleep. Plus I save a considerable amount on gas.

In the last month, the kitchen was remodeled. The wall separating it and the living/dining room was knocked down. It freaked out the cat and she pooped in strange places. Thank goodness she got over it.

Now we have a hardwood floor, granite counter tops, a trash compactor, recessed lighting, under-cabinet task lighting, a new stove, a deep sink with a new garbage disposal, and many more cupboards under the bar where the wall used to be. Oh and the crappy, pointy textured ceiling was covered so it's flat and I can have BALLOONS!

Whilst the kitchen is awesome (it's as if someone accidentally left their nice kitchen in our old house), sleeping was impossible. It's not cool to come home at 11:30pm and get woken up at 7am by guys delivering granite.

The fence was also rebuilt by the same guys, so Kane can now romp and play as free as a fenced in dog can be. Which isn't much for Kane because he'd really rather be inside sneaking a nap on the couch.

My parents are out of town. Out of state. Soon to be out of country. It's not too spooky in the house. Previously, the dog would sleep outside the bedroom door, but apparently the lure of sleeping on the basement couch is just too strong. Luckily/unluckily, I have a cat who won't leave me alone. I think the lack of company is making Butters even more clingy, if you can imagine. In fact, she is using my leg as a pillow right now as I type. It's cute, but I feel bad when I have to get up and toss her aside. And she's warm. But I swear, if she doesn't stop rubbing her face on me, she's gonna go bald in the face and I'm gonna have rug burn.

I thought taking care of the 8 pets (1 dog + 1 cat + 6 fish) would be bothersome, but it's not bad. Plus having to take care of the pets ensure that I don't stay at work too long. The dog's gotta pee, ya know.

Speaking of that...I gotta go.

FUBAR

I've been watching The War on PBS, Ken Burns' latest long-ass documentary. Tonight's episode, which aired at 8pm, is called FUBAR.

And to explain what FUBAR and SNAFU mean, the narrator actually said, "FUCKED."

Public television is awesome.
