"Come on, Aileen..."

"Too-ra-loo-ra-too-ra-loo-ra-aaaaayyy" What the hell were Dexy's Midnight Runners talking about? Well, I don't know. But I do know that the too-ra bit comes from a lullaby:

"Over in Killarney, many years ago,
Me mother sang a song to me
in tones so sweet and low.
Just a simple little ditty,
in her good old Irish way.
And I'd give the world if she could sing
that song to me this day.

Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Hush now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, That's an Irish lullaby."

Isn't it a wee bit strange that the too-ra bit from the pop song "Come on (A)Eileen" comes from a lullaby from Killarney, Ireland and I grew up on Killarney St.? Oooh coincidence?!?!?

Yeah. It's just a coincidence. Come on, don't be such a flake.
